Sarah Browne: Buttercup (2024)
Sirius Art Centre

For artist Sarah Browne, I developed software to play back her 'film Buttercup' with an accompanying caption and audio description screen. The playback of each screen is entirely frame-accurate. To achieve this accuracy the two screens are rendered as a single video file (3840 x 1080) then split down the middle in the software and output to each screen.

The film itself is screened in two 27min versions, one with Audio Description and the other with Captions.

The system itself is fully automated booting once it is turned on. It contains simple controls in case the need to mute, pause, jump between versions, etc, arises. And as a safety feature is connected to the internet for remote access and for transfer of updated files
(The captions were still in development til close to the launch)

For my own generative audio/visual composition I used 3 monitors and 1 projector. The three screens showclosely related images and the projecotor shows a composite of the three screens. Played using two computers exchanging information over a network.

I designed a system and software to play multiple films by artist/composer Andy Ingamells across 5 screens.

In this system I networked three computers and the films were played to a timetable onto 3 monitors and 2 projectors.
